Bulgur with Broccoli, Kale, and Walnuts

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup bulgur
  • 1 cup freeze dried broccoli
  • 1 cup freeze dried kale
  • 1/2 cube vegetable bouillon
  • 1/4 tsp. dried mustard
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

Preparation

Frontcountry

Thoroughly combine the first 7 ingredients together in a quart-sized Ziploc Freezer Bag. Store separately the chopped walnuts in a Ziploc Bag and the olive oil in a reusable container or disposable water bottle.

Backcountry

Heat 1 1/2 cups of water to a boil. After the water has cooled slightly, pour 1 cup of the water into the Ziploc Freezer Bag and seal, leaving a small opening for hot air to escape. Once the water has been absorbed, taste for consistency, adding more water as needed. As a final step, add the chopped walnuts and olive oil and mix thoroughly to incorporate.
